About the hackathon
This is more than just a hackathon – it is the front line of innovation, where bold ideas are forged into solutions for a safer, stronger Baltics and New Nordics.For three high-intensity days, you and your team will dive deep into targeted, high-value insights from Lithuania’s and the Nordic region’s leading innovation experts, ambitious tech startup founders, business mentors, and defence industry analysts.
The Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union, together with the Tech-Park Kaunas startup community, is calling on tech builders, visionary thinkers, and sharp, curious minds to step-up and prove what you can do.
Join the innovators’ ranks – your engineering breakthrough, robotics prototype, cyber defence tool, or even a radical lab experiment could evolve into a mission-ready answer to today’s most urgent security threats. The spotlight of this year’s hackathon: Artificial Intelligence and how it can transform the modern battlefield.
If tech runs through your veins – whether you are constructing drones, building algorithms, or crunching massive datasets – assemble your crew (minimum of two people) and sign up.
Bring your idea, and you will be backed by exprienced professionals and experts in innovation, AI, product design, finance, and defence, all ready to help you transform it into a powerful, actionable concept. When the time comes to pitch, your solution will be showcased to a panel of investors and industry leaders who can open the doors to real-world impact.
No concept yet, but ready to make things happen? Jump in and tackle real-life challenges from business, government, and critical infrastructure sectors – and make your mark where it matters most.
The thematic areas of the hackathon cover the entire spectrum of modern defense:
air, land, and water drones;
cybersecurity and electronic warfare;
artificial intelligence and autonomous systems;
mines and demining;
space technologies;
simulation and training technologies;
military medical solutions, food supplies, equipment;
materials and components.

Capture the Flag (CTF) Game
Get inside a hacker’s mind and put your cyber skills to the test in the high-stakes Capture the Flag (CTF) virtual battlefield!
The Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union Cyber Security Unit Lizdeika invites young (under 19) cybersecurity enthusiasts to take part in the Capture the Flag competition on 11–12 October.
All senior cybersecurity professionals and IT specialists are invited to register for the hackathon, where you will have the opportunity to create proof-of-concept cybersecurity tools and compete for funding to further develop these solutions.
At Santaka Valley more than 100 participants will go head-to-head, racing to crack codes and claim all virtual flags before the clock runs out.
The competition is open to both teams and solo players – so bring your crew or fly solo, and prove you’ve got what it takes to win.
Why Join the CTF Game?
A great opportunity to test your cybersecurity skills and identify areas for improvement!

Participation in a hackathon allows you to not only test your idea with a large audience that quickly finds ways to "challenge" the solution. It is an intense experience of learning, collaboration, and creativity, where in just a few days you can achieve what would normally take months in a regular project. Moreover, hackathons help establish new connections with other innovators and potential partners, investors, and future clients.

Elvinas Kukys
Luna Robotics CEO
Listen to the client more and fall less in love with your product.

Ernestas Žvaigždinas
Co-founder of the defence technology startup BROSWARM
Participating in the "Flaming Shield" hackathon is one of the best ways to take steps into the defense industry. Here, you can establish critically important contacts that help both attract investments, organize equipment testing during exercises, and gain real insights into the product's potential.

Martynas Bajoraitis
Commander of the Technology Unit, KSK "Lizdeika", Lithuanian Riflemen's Union
Do not limit yourself. Move forward. Look for some unusual or absolutely incredible solutions.

Dmytro Kuzmenko

This year's hackathon focuses on one of the most relevant and dynamic fields – the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the modern defence context.
The battlefield is rapidly transforming, and AI is becoming an essential factor in shaping tactics, speed, and the quality of decisions.
We invite you to create solutions that not only operate in real-time but also have the ability to predict, react, and act autonomously.
